"Accountability means being in the House"

Scott Brison spoke out today regarding the recent appointment of Michael Fortier to the Senate. He went as far as quoting Steven Harper shortly before the conclusion of this past election.

On January 13, 2006 Stephen Harper Said:

"Our system itself must have integrity. A system with democratic integrity is one in which those who sit in the Parliament of Canada, including senators, are elected."

That was before he became Prime Minister.

In his Op-Ed piece Mr. Brison also addresses the problems the House will now face as a result of having a non-elected member in control of the Public Works and Government Services portfolio.

For more information please visit Scott's Op-Ed piece that appeared in today's National Post.

Fortier's appointment is infinitely worse than dear Mr. Emerson's.
Let's see.......Harper wanted an elected Senate........except for when it suited his personal purposes.........he campaigned against supposed 'corruption' in PWGSC, and then appointed an unelected Minister to oversee its administration, who is unaccountable to the House of Commons.....and wants us all to rejoice that he has a provided a seat at the cabinet table for the island of Montreal, except that he could have achieved that with 7 elected Quebec MP's not put in cabinet but apparently they are all unworthy of such lofty responsibilities.
What a joke..... and what a joke is PM Harper!!!

I can't believe the Liberals aren't yelling louder about everything that has transpired over the past few weeks! "Shakey start" would be generous! Look at the polls! We would be a hell of a lot further ahead in them if we would speak a little louder! Seems that we could use a few more Scott Brison's in our party to get the points across! Great op-ed piece by the way... Oh, and I had a lady ask me who the leader of the liberal party was. Where is Bill Graham anyways? Brison needs to hurry up and declare already. We need him.
